What is a Despacho Ceremony?
A Despacho Ceremony is an ancient, living prayer from the Andean spiritual tradition, practiced for centuries by the Q’ero Nation of Peru and other highland communities. This sacred ritual creates a ceremonial mandala of offerings, meticulously assembled from natural elements—flowers, seeds, leaves, sugar, grains, sweets, and symbolic objects—each placed with deep intention, prayer, and love.
The Despacho becomes a powerful prayer bundle, woven together with gratitude, blessings, and specific intentions for harmony, healing, balance, and transformation. Once complete, this beautiful offering is ceremonially returned to the Earth—through burning, burial, or release into water—sending your prayers back to Pachamama (Mother Earth), the Apus (mountain spirits), and the unseen realms that surround and support us.
